Twin v. Singleton Belly: Part VI

27ish weeks with #3:

27 weeks with the boys:
i still think i'm almost the same size, the difference (that you can't see in these pics) is that i am WIDER this time, & carrying lower, whereas with the dudes both of them were right up front. this was confirmed for me by a very sweet Lebanese woman at my fav mid.eastern grocery, who exclaimed to me with a big smile this week, "oh my! you're growing so big & wide! are you sure you aren't having twins? no? well, it must be a big healthy baby boy!" this was meant as a compliment, so i took it in the spirit in which it was meant, but it gave me a good laugh, nonetheless. (no, i'm still not telling the sex!)

in other news, when we were in recovery at the hospital yesterday after conrad's surgery, the 2 nurses with us were also twin moms, with kids born at 33 weeks, & they were shocked at how huge our boys were. their kids were between 2 & 3 lbs, which is typical for 33 weekers, while our guys were 5 lbs each. i knew at the time that they were big, but hearing about other babies born at the same gestation just makes me realize all over again how incredibly lucky we were. (it also makes me slightly nervous about how big our singleton will be, but i guess that what i get for marrying a giant!)

A note on pics: N & I don't take a ton of photos in the NICU, as its usually dark & the flash really irks the boys. So we kind of take pictures in bunches.

It cracks me up how much the guys look like their dad when he was a baby, & how much they look like each other. I also think its really funny that I have blonde babies. :)

Another random thought: today was the first time some one told me that one of my boys looked like me. I absolutely loved hearing it. :)

Our BIG Boys!

We had our 30week growth scan today, & everything looks great. (Except my stupid cervix, which is still shortening, but not dramatically enough to call for a change in treatment. So fingers crossed that bed rest & drugs keep things moving slow enough for us to hit 35 weeks!!!)

Anyways, the important news is that the dudes are HUGE! Even allowing for the u/s margin of error, they're still big boys. They're both measuring close to 34 weeks (!!!) & while they're supposed to be around 3lbs right now, they're both way over-- baby A is at 3lbs 14 oz & baby B is at 4lbs 2oz! :) that's 8lbs of baby I'm lugging around right now-- small wonder i can't breathe & feel so tired & crappy all the time! All worth it though to give our dudes the best shot we can at being healthy babies & coming home with us.

This is me at 30 weeks pg with the boys. Note the swollen face & belly leaning a bit to the left. (This is because baby A's feet & baby B's head are jammed into my left side, just under my ribs. good times!)
